5 PROBLEM AREAS WE WORK WITH

01
SOCIAL PROTECTION
DIN Malawi implements social protection initiatives that provide income or consumption transfers to households living in poverty, protect vulnerable groups against livelihood risks, and enhance the social status and rights of marginalized groups, with the overall objective of reducing economic and social disparities.
02
COMMUNITY
EMERGENCY RESPONSE
AND CLIMATE
RESILIENCE
Climate-change disasters disrupt the efforts of government and non-state actors to deliver local services, maintain critical infrastructure, and provide emergency, capital, information, and social support that allows communities to mitigate and adapt to climate challenges.

03
FOOD SECURITY AND
LIVELIHOOD
Climate-change related disasters leed to persistent low agricultural yields that impact livelihoods and local seed resilience that reduce sustainable farming practices and impact the economic viability of households and communities, disproportionately affecting young women and marginalized groups.
04
GENDER JUSTICE
The enduring social impacts of climate change are especially felt by women and girls, creating barriers to education, information, resources, social support, and participation in leadership and decision-making, as well as governance.

05

SEXUAL REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH
The disruption critical health and
communication infrastructures as a result of climate-change disasters and institutional gaps in local services reduce reliable local information sharing, and exacerbates health impacts from under-resourced hospitals, high sexual disease transmission and infection rates, preventable maternal deaths, and increases high-risk practices impacting health and sexual victimization.
